CAIR-FL to Announce Muslim Worker's Bias Complaint Against UPS
(TAMPA, FL, 7/9/2012) -- On Tuesday, July 10,
the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
(CAIR-FL), along with the law firm of Morgan & Morgan, will hold a
news conference in Orlando to announce the filing of an Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint by an Arab-American Muslim
United Parcel Service (UPS) employee who alleges that the company
created a hostile work environment because of his religion and national
origin.
The complaint also alleges that UPS retaliated against the Muslim worker for challenging the discrimination.
UPS management allegedly referred to the employee as a "monkey"
because his "skin tone" and would reportedly monitor his use of
restroom facilities. During the investigation of this case, other former
UPS employees of Middle-Eastern background have come forward to
reportedly confirm UPS's discriminatory culture.
The plaintiff and his attorneys will take part in the news conference.
