Dear Ashutosh ji,
How
are you doing ? My name is Pramod Kumar and I am with the Overseas
Friends of BJP in the US. I am writing this email in response to your
article in the Indian Express.
While
I understand that in the article, you were trying to compare and
contrast conservative politics of the west with that of the BJP, one
least mentioned point that I am sure you may have omitted due to a
variety of reasons is
"religion".
Every
ideology emanates out of a sense of security or insecurity. Every
single ideology that you see today in the west emanates out of various
Judeo- christian and greco-roman philosophies. Be it the doctrine of
"manifest destiny" or the doctrine of the "collective west".
Coming
back to the Indian subcontinent (which only recently is beginning to
find its moorings), THERE IS STILL TIME FOR ECONOMIC RENAISSANCE.
In our observation (as the BJP or Center of Right Hindu politics as you may like to call us), Hindu
Dharma or our Dharmic philosophical intellect is not reflected in our economics and way of doing business. There is no nation on earth that runs
on Hindu ethos or vedic extracts.
Our journey from the 50's as Jan Sangh and now as the BJP has always been to bring in the philosophy of Vasudeka Kutumbhakam into Governance, politics and into real national growth.
We may have Swadeshi, Pardesi and
dwideshi discussions wrt economic steerage, but we will never compromise
on the need for India to be independent both ideologically and
otherwise.
BJP does have an economic concept of its own. It is called the THIRD WAY. If you
are interested, I can explain it to you in greater detail. My number is
615 306 9403. One of our greatest ideologues Shri Dattopant Thengadi wrote a few books on this topic as well.
I am sure you will recognize what Rudyard Kipling once wrote: East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet,
expressing his belief that somebody from the West "can never understand
the Asian cultures" as the latter "differ too much" from the Western
cultures. Some may view this alleged incompatibility as a precursor to
Huntington's "clash of civilizations" theory.
and if you want to guess, I am 33, western educated but an unflinching proponent of INDONOMICS.
Namaste.
