Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee in its
statement expressed concern about the by-election conditions at Mahboobnagar
where a Muslim candidate is contesting for MLA seat on TRS ticket. It is a
strange matter that the TJAC is giving statement in favour of BJP candidate and
has pressurized TRS chief KCR not to field its candidate especially at Mahboobnagar
because the candidate which TRS has selected is a Muslim. The chairman of TJAC who claims
to be secular and rights activist has turned communal. Hence now and
then we tend to regularly see masks over masks on the chairman’s face. The
fight for separate Telangana is no more sincere. Each and every person in this
fight is for some or the other personal benefits. The real faces of the people
are exposed in this movement. The Telangana movement is no more a peoples’
movement. The aspirations of the common people have died. Now every person is
in the race of Telangana for personal benefits. Politicians, leaders,
commentators etc expect Muslims to be secular whereas they can remain communal
and spread the same. This is not only the double standard but a face with
several layers of different kinds of masks.
The committee would like to remind people that in
the 2009 elections, KCR stood for MP seat and fielded a Muslim candidate for
MLA seat for the same Mahboobnagar constituency. KCR got more than 50 thousand
votes for the MP seat whereas the Muslim candidate got only 30 thousand votes for
the same constituency and lost in the election. Why was it so? This happened
only because it was a Muslim candidate for MLA seat and a non-Muslim candidate for
MP seat. This is the standard of people’s attitude and the politicians who
guide and misguide the people during elections. Is the BJP Hindu candidate more
sincere than the TRS Muslim candidate towards Telangana? Thus, one can say that
the movement is leading towards communalism by the so called leaders and
politicians of the Telangana; and now it can also be predicted that it is
moving towards fascism.
This committee also condemns the attitude of KCR who
has fielded a Muslim candidate from TRS for the namesake. If he is really
concerned to field a Muslim candidate and also wishes that its candidate should
win from the Mahboobnagar constituency, then why is he not campaigning for his
party candidate? Why is this particular person not given enough popularity from
his side? Why has KCR thought of allotting only 6 hours of time for
Mahboobnagar and concentrating more time to other candidates? In fact, the
other candidates need no such campaign by KCR because there is no such tough
fight and their victory is almost known. The person from Mahboobnagar is needed
of more concentration from KCR but unfortunately as he is a Muslim he is not
ought to be given much time and is left on his own fate. So, not only TJAC
chairman has face of many masks even KCR has a face of several masks and
colours; he changes these colours accordingly. To please Muslims he praises
them in numerous ways and on the other side ditches the same Muslims by
nominating a Muslim candidate in the elections for the namesake. It seems that
even KCR wants the BJP candidate’s victory.
Thus, this committee wants to clear that the
Mahboobnagar election is the litmus test for the whole Telangana movement. Already
many masks and various colours of TRS have been exposed which is led by KCR and
T political JAC led by Kodandram Reddy. Mahboobnagar election is a test of
secularism. This election will decide the fate of Telangana movement. If the
TRS candidate, who is a Muslim, looses the elections, then KCR and Kodandram Reddy
will be directly responsible for his failure. The non-Muslims population of
Mahboobnagar also will be held responsible for their anti-Muslim attitude which
in turn will prove how communal they are!
