Sanitation of
Berhampur city is
effected as around
400 sanitation
employees of the
city started cease
work since January
27. The employees of
Berhampur Municipal
Corporation (BMC)
have been continuing
cease work dharana
in-front of BMC
office demanding
regularization of
their posts and
extra allowance of
Rs.1000/- per month
each till they were
made permanent staff

The municipality
authority claimed
the cease work had
not affected the
sanitation of the
city as sanitation

had been privatized.
The agitators said
they would not
withdraw their
strike unless their
demands were
fulfilled. They also
threatened to
paralyze the BMC
office if the
authorities did not
heed to their
demand.
