16, 2010 (San Juan, Puerto Rico) - Thirteen individuals charged in four
different criminal complaints with conspiracy, document fraud,
aggravated identity theft, and reentering the United States after being
deported, were arrested this morning by U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special
agents with the assistance of the San Juan Municipal Police and Puerto

ICE Removes International Fugitive Wanted for Murder

16, 2010 (Miami) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE)
Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Wednesday removed a Dominican
national, wanted in the Dominican Republic for first degree murder.
Jose Odalis Perez-Calderon, aka Elvis Luna Peña, 32, was removed to
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on an ICE Air Operations flight.
Upon arrival at Herrera International Airport in Santo Domingo, Perez
was turned over to Dominican law enforcement and immigration

CPB Captures Utah Fugitive at SeaTac Airport

14, 2010 (Seattle) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers
apprehended an Olympia, Washington man on Saturday who was wanted by
the U.S. Marshals on a no-bail 1st degree felony warrant for a drug
distribution charge in Provo, Utah. The warrant was issued on August

3 Plead Guilty in Harboring Illegal Aliens at Korean Room Salon

2, 2010 (Alexandria, Va.) - On Wednesday, the owner and the managers of
a room salon in Falls Church, Va., pled guilty to conspiracy to harbor
illegal aliens for commercial advantage and financial gain. This
investigation was led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
(ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations. According to court
records, the defendants admitted that they had employed female, Korean

Mexican National Sentenced to More Than 5 Years in Federal Prison for Illegally Re-entering United States

2, 2010 (Panama City, Fla.) - A convicted criminal alien, who had been
previously deported, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the
Northern District of Florida on Wednesday to 64 months in federal
prison for illegally re-entering the United States after being
deported. Mario Ruiz-Toledo, 22, a Mexican national, was arrested on
Feb. 2 following an investigation by the Bay County Sheriff's Office

30, 2010 (Falfurrias, Texas) - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to
the Falfurrias station rescued two illegal aliens Monday. The event
transpired when the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call
from an illegal alien who claimed to be lost in the brush and in need
of assistance. The sheriff’s office contacted the Falfurrias station

Island repatriated five Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba,

Key West, Fla., Wednesday that they were on scene with a rustic vessel
with six Cuban migrants aboard approximately nine miles west of

Three Sub-contractors Plead Guilty to Employing Illegal Aliens in Miami-Dade School Construction Project

15, 2010 (Miami, Fla.) - Luis Daniel, 59, the president of
Hialeah-based Daniel Builders, Inc.; his wife Marta Duque, 57; and
Luis' son, Ariel Daniel, 26, entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to
commit mail fraud and conspiracy to induce aliens to remain in the
United States for commercial advantage and private financial gain. They
each face a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison at their
sentencing on Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. All three had been released on bond

Cervantes-Peralta, an illegal alien from Mexico, was found guilty by a
jury in U.S. District Court on the felony charge of transportation on

1, 2010 (Alexandria, Va.) - Miguel Angel Monjaras-Castro, 37, a native
of El Salvador, was sentenced today to 57 months in prison for illegal
reentry after deportation for commission of an aggravated felony
following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

CBP Officers Discover Man Hidden in Duffle Bag

1, 2010 (San Diego, Calif.) – U.S. Customs and Border Protection
officers at the port of Otay Mesa, Calif. early this morning foiled an
attempt to smuggle a man in a duffle bag. At 1:30 a.m., a CBP officer
inspected a tan 1999 Chevy Blazer and referred the vehicle and driver,
a 47-year-old U.S. citizen female from Compton, Calif., for further

ICE Announces Results of Repatriation Program

30, 2010 (Tucson, Ariz.) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
(ICE) announced Thursday that 23,384 Mexican citizens agreed to
voluntarily return to their hometowns in the interior of Mexico by
participating in the Mexican Interior Repatriation Program (MIRP). MIRP
is a bilaterally beneficial voluntary program that ensures the safe and
swift return of Mexican nationals found unlawfully in the Sonora
Arizona desert region of the United States to their places of origin in
the Mexican interior. The program is run by ICE, the Mexican Ministry

CBP Thwarts Human Smuggling Attempt at Sea

30, 2010 (San Diego, Calif.) - The crew of a U.S. Customs and Border
Protection (CBP) marine interdiction vessel stopped a human smuggling
attempt off the coast of San Diego netting seven illegal aliens on
Sunday afternoon. A CBP maritime crew comprised of CBP marine
interdiction agents and CBP officers, were on routine patrol about
three miles off the coast of Point Loma at around 5 p.m., when they

Coast Guard Interdicts Eight Migrants Off Fort Pierce

22, 2010 (Miami, Fla.) - The Coast Guard interdicted eight undocumented
migrants 20 miles east of Fort Pierce, Fla., Friday. A Coast Guard
Station Fort Pierce smallboat crew responded to a report of a vessel
taking on water 20 miles east of Fort Pierce. Once on scene with the
24-foot vessel, they confirmed the vessel was not sinking but had no
fuel and lost steering. Aboard the vessel were nine persons - two
Jamaican males, three Bahamian males, one Bahamian female, two Bahamian

Federal Authorities Prosecute Two Dominicans for Alien Smuggling

appeared today before U.S. District Court Chief Magistrate Judge Justo

Illegal Alien Indicted After Trying to Enter McConnell Air Force Base

19, 2010 (Wichita, Kan.) - A second illegal alien has been indicted for
document fraud after trying to gain access to McConnell Air Force Base
in Wichita. The charges resulted from an investigation conducted by the
Air Force Security Police at McConnell and the U.S. Immigration and

(HSI). Lorenzo Mondragon-Sanchez, 38, a Mexican national, tried to

ICE Arrests 14 Men in Southern Indiana During Operation Targeting Foreign-Born Gang Members

11, 2010 (Indianapolis, Ind.) - Agents with the local U.S. Immigration
and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security
Investigations (HSI), in close partnership with other federal, state
and local law enforcement partners, arrested 14 foreign-born gang
members and gang associates during a two-day operation ending Tuesday.
This is the latest joint local action of an ongoing national ICE HSI

6, 2010 (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) - A citizen of the Dominican Republic
faces charges of violating federal immigration laws after U.S. Border
Patrol Agents apprehended him in St. Thomas, USVI. Gregorio
Arias-Arias, a native of Bani, Dominican Republic, appeared yesterday
before a Magistrate Judge at the U.S. District Court for the District
of the United States Virgin Islands accused of entering into the United
States at a place other than a designated port of entry by immigration

6, 2010 (Miami, Fla.) - The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket
repatriated 28 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Friday. A good
Samaritan notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West, Fla.,
that they were on scene with a rustic vessel with 23 Cuban migrants
aboard approximately 11 miles south of Boca Chica, Fla., Wednesday. The

Border Patrol Agents in El Centro Rescue Six Illegal Aliens From Desert

2, 2010 (El Centro, Calif.) - Over the course of three days, agents
from the El Centro Sector Border Patrol rescued six illegal aliens in
the desert, five who were suffering from heat-related injuries. Due to
their immigration history, one of the subjects is being held at the
Imperial County Jail pending prosecution charges. The remaining five

repatriated 13 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, Sunday. The

with 11 Cuban migrants aboard approximately 53 miles south of
Marquesas, Fla., Wednesday. Aboard the rustic vessel were nine male

15, 2010 (Baltimore, Md.) - Federal authorities arrested British
citizen John Skelton at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood
Marshall Airport on Monday night on charges of identity fraud, false
statements, and being an impostor to a U.S. citizen. U.S. Department of
State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) officials discovered that
Skelton, 41, of Yorkshire, England, allegedly stole the identity of
U.S. citizen Kurt Branham, who died in 1994. DSS teamed with Customs
and Border Protection officers to apprehend Skelton after the Brit
presented a fraudulently obtained U.S. passport to re-enter the country

Buffalo CBP Officers Arrest United States Citizen for False Statements/Misuse of Passport

14, 2010 (Buffalo, N.Y.) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Field Operations announced the arrest of a United States citizen on
charges of false claim to citizenship, misuse of a passport and false
statements. On July 9, CBP officers encountered a 29-year-old male as
he applied for admission at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing in
Niagara Falls, N.Y. The subject presented a valid U.S. passport as
proof of citizenship and advised the CBP officer that he was returning

12, 2010 (Charleston, S.C.) - A joint team of U.S. Customs and Border

investigate a report of stowaways on board the M/V MSC Debra. The
vessel departed the Dominican Republic on June 9, and arrived in

Iranian Allegedly Forged a Letter From U.N. Official in Support of Immigration Applications

7, 2010 (Baltimore, Md.) - A criminal complaint has been filed charging
Hossein Dehbashi, 38, an Iranian national living in Gaithersburg, Md.,
with submitting a document he knew to be false, purportedly written by
a high level United Nations (U.N.) official, in support of his
immigration applications. Dehbashi was arrested on June 6, 2010, and
had an initial appearance on June 7 at U.S. District Court in

ICE Arrests 72 During 2-Week Operation Targeting Immigration Fugitives

2, 2010 (Chicago, Ill.) - Local U.S. Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) fugitive operations teams arrested 72 foreign
nationals in the Chicago area during a two-week-long enforcement action
targeting immigration fugitives and criminal aliens. The ICE operation,
which ran May 10-14 and May 24-28, targeted immigration fugitives with
outstanding deportation orders, aliens with criminal records, and
