working.
That said, these are the people, who are in majority and go to vote.
It
has become difficult to find labor for agriculture and construction
related activities because people are getting monthly 35 kgs of rice
at rs. 2/- per kg.
So,
work for 1 day, get Rs. 100; eat Pakhala & dry fish and sleep for a
month.- Not Available for Work equivalent to "Don't Disturb Board" in a
hotel room.

More than a month after he quit the
BJP accusing the RSS of interfering in party affairs, former MP
Kharavela Swain on Monday formed his own regional outfit Utkal Bharat.
Announcing the
name of the party, Swain said his party would oppose the Rs 2 per kg
rice scheme of the Naveen Patnaik government as it bred poverty instead
of reducing it. “People who are getting rice at Rs 2 per kg are hardly
working, content with the rice that they get at subsidised price. More
and more people have taken up drinking liquor because of cheap rice,”
said Swain.
He said his party
would have a national perspective. “In the coming days, it will be
converted into a national party,” he added.
Projecting
himself to be alternative of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Swain said
the party would oppose the BJD, Congress and the BJP. “There is no hope

Naveen Babu has just relegated Orissa into a welfare state without
knowing what welfare really means.Orissa is governed less efficiently
even than during the colonial days. There are better ways to help
people who can not buy food at current level of price.T.Ravenshaw the
then commissioner of Orissa built Ravenshaw College in the 19th century
during famine(N'Anka Durviksa). Starving hordes of people were paid for
their labour in building that magnificient college and could afford to
buy rice brought in from other parts of India. Just imagine how many
primary and secondary schools could have been built all across Orissa
with money used for subsidy. Income gerenating programs are far
superior because give dignity to workers and achieves the same goal.
However Mr.Swain can not escape from this blemish because this
program was initiated when BJP his old party of which he was an M.P.was
a full partner in governing Orissa. I am curious about the choice of
the name of the party he created. Does he represent just Utkal part of
Orissa ? If he becomes successful,his party will be just another
metamorphosis of BJD ! So Orissa will be as doomed as now.
