Meerut: 18 February (RINA): The Samajwadi Party (SP) discard from Meerut Haji Shahid Akhlaq has floated a new political party by the Secular Ekta Party (SEP). Its first public meeting was held here yesterday at Nauchandi Grounds. In his address the SEP supremo dared the SP to contest from Meerut West. It may be recalled that at the same ground a couple of years ago left the BSP and joined the SP. He said, “I joined the SP considering Mulyam Singh Yadav to be a secular person and a sympathizer of Muslims. However, on the contrary he has betrayed by befriending Kalyan Singh ignoring the appeals of all sections of Ulema. It has definitely lent him in a spot of bother. Muslims will never vote for him”. He categorically stated that we (Muslims) can sacrifice our lives but can never ever compromise on Iman. He also cautioned the Hindus from Mulayam Singh type opportunists. In fact he invited Ajeet Singh and announced to support him.

President of National Lok Tantrik Party Arshad Khan expressed his dismay over the fact that even after sixty one years of Independence Muslims are facing injustice. “In the various anti-Muslim riots thousands of Muslims have been killed but their killers are still at large”. Mr. Khan hinted for an alliance of all of the Muslim parties. President of Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Al-Qasmi noted, “For the past sixty years we are tired of doing negative politics. We have played the role kingmaker. But the need of the hour is to be serious. The rally was well attended. Prominent among those who formally joined SEP were: Rahul Deepankar (USA), Dr. Masood Ahmad (Aligarh Muslim University), Maulana Ilyas (Vice President Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, UP), Aneeta Hazarika, Mohammad Afaque (President MEA), Mohammad Akbar Khan (Ex. Spokesperson SP), Mr. Shamsuddin etc
