State Govt has failed to provide justice to the KBK Region and the Western Orissa Districts - By Jibanendra Mahanty
Insane decision - By Sandip K. Dasverma
Dear Readers,
I thank Shri Dasverma for putting forth the facts that the State Govt has failed to provide justice to the KBK Region and the Western Orissa Districts in the matter of providing quality health care/education, for reasons best known to the Govt.
It is also true that the Coastal Districts of the State are receiving relatively better attention not only from the Govt Sector but also from the Private Sector.
Therefore, ( when the Govt has failed ) we should pursuade the Private Sector to come forward for providing Health Care/Education as well as General Education, to KBK and Backward Districts of Western Orissa.
Indeed, the Corporate Sectors ( specially those who are already in the State exploiting Mineral Resources and damaging the vital Eco-system ) shd not be allowed to operate in the Coastal Districts, which will automatically attaract many players ( including our State grown), because of better infrastructure facilities and other logistics, available in the coastal areas. In order to achieve all round development of the State we must make efforts to divert the Corporate Sectors to the designated Backward Districts of the State.
Perhaps, it would have been befitting for the Vedanta Group to have given adequate thought on this subject and to have gone for setting up a "World Class and State of Art" Medical and Health Care University in the KBK/Western Orissa.
At the same time, the People of Orissa have to fight for getting due attention from the Central Govt for improvement of Infrastructure, such as Railways/ Highways/ Water Supply , etc in Western Orissa.
Thanks,
J.N.Mahanty
Dear Sandip
Very well said. If you feel you have failed in modern Orissa, that is exactly what modern Orissa needs, for failings of people like you are unique strengths of modern Orissa. I am sure our friends at Agamiorissa can do more in this respect than plucking the "moon from New Delhi". But then marching for these causes may not bring same visibility, prestige and intellectual power.
