Bangalore: August 20: Gujarat police
that arrived here three days earlier to keep an eye on doubtful activities of
the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) arrested two doctors here today,
claming their relation with the banned organization. Police sources told the
police team from Gujarat raided a medical college
established here and arrested a dentist who practices in the city. Similarly,
another doctor, who runs a clinic in the heart of this busy city, was arrested
by the police. However, the two detainees could not be identified immediately.
District police claims that it does not know anything about the incident.
Earlier, the state police arrested Hafiz aliuas Adnan, an important activist
associated with SIMI. Meanwhile, the minister for internal affairs in
Karnataka, V. S. Acharya told that a team of state police has gone to Gujarat
to inquire whether on of the nine SIMI activists belonging to the state had
been involved in recent Ahmadabad
blasts.
