Planning summer vacation in Odisha ? FYI
-Manoj Padhi
Faced with acute shortage of power, Odisha has asked the
central government to allocate at least 500 MW of power daily to the
state, Energy Minister Sabyasachi Nayak said Wednesday.
Nayak said he has written to union Power Minister Sushil
Kumar Shinde asking him "to provide 500 MW of power from the
unallocated share of central generating stations until the situation
improves".
Orissa, which requires more than 3,000 MW of power during
peak hours, has been facing a shortage of about 500 MW of power every
day due to low electricity generation in six hydel power plants.
Dear All,
Our State is endowed with very large reserve of Thermal Coal and we
produce about 100 million tons of Coal per annum, which caters for
almost 35% of Country's power generation. If Odisha stops supplying
Coal for Supply of Power to other States, almost a third of the Country
will be blacked out.
Yet we are begging for supply of power to our homes!
This clearly proves that we Odias, like to remain as Beggars although
God has been kind to have given enough resources to put us in the
driver's seat. Neither the people nor the leaders of the State have
the will power, brain and acumen to change the fate of the State and
its people.
